The Logic Of Surak:  Introduction

Years ago a man named Robert Pirsig wrote a bestselling novel called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance".  It was not strictly about Zen, although it mentioned some Zen ideas and concepts.  It was also not strictly about motorcycle maintenance, although it mentioned how and why one maintains a motorcycle.  It was not about using Zen to maintain motorcycles. The book was about "values", as in, "what is good?", "what is craftsmanship?", and "what is life all about?", to name but a few.

Likewise, this document is neither about logic nor about someone named Surak, although we will review the fictional character named Surak, and we will use logic to arrive at conclusions regarding peace, reason, and clarity.  If one is at peace and has clarity and can reason, one can improve their life.  So one could say that this document, like Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance, is also about values.
